Rev

Rev is the final album in the Bittersweet storyline. It opens up with an audible scene of Addy Faith’s murder. The murder takes place directly after A Dramatization Presented By. The culprits, Vinny, Kam, Susie, Alyssa and Lila, are all allegedly based on people in real life that had always been foreshadowed in each album. 5 key people in Addy’s personal life that changed the trajectory of her story. They stabbed her, carved a smile in her face, gouged her eyes out and set her corpse ablaze in the grave. Addy is resurrected into a demon named “Revenge” aka “Rev” to kill those who killed her in order to free her soul and lay to rest for eternity.

The EP released in between Blank Canvas Deluxe and A Dramatization titled “In October We Fell in Love With People We Don’t Know”, featured 3 songs, “October”, “Mr Loverboy” and “People She Don’t Know”. October is the one to listen to because it foreshadows a huge moment in Rev. The lyric “If you can’t handle all the worsts then you shouldn’t get the best” is rumored to be a direct reflection to the track “Alyssa and Lila” where she mentions “walking on eggshells”, or “bring(ing) up issues that you got (then) you’re dead”. In the song, “Alyssa and Lila” lets just say Addy, or Rev, didn’t have very many positive things to say about them. Alyssa and Lila had told me 9 months after the death of my sister that they didn’t want to have to “walk on eggshells around my mental health”. I had done all I could to not let my mental health affect my friendships to the point where I never spoke about my health, my thoughts, my heartache, nothing. The one time I did well…we all know how it ended.

“Kam” was written due to a rumor that surfaced behind my back about me “seducing” one of my old friends, which, a simple text would easily debunk that, but I guess we’re all still acting like high schoolers at our grown age. Susie is rumored to be Kam’s girlfriend who took part in the rumors. Susie is probably the least brutal out of all of them considering she was just a culprit by association and spreading the word of rumor.

Vinny, however, is not a direct associate to me, but was added to the album because of their relationship with my best friend. “Vinny” and him had dated for 2 years before Vinny cheated on them while also lying about being a married, in the military, sober, etc. I never really liked Vinny in the first place and since Vinny did have a part in temporarily breaking apart my friendship with my best friend, the vendetta held against them resulted in “Vinny” being the album’s lead single and the harshest diss track on the record. Honestly, I didn’t have to do much thinking about the lyrics, the material pretty much wrote itself. The storyline does conclude with Rev completing her mission and freeing her soul to which we hear a clip of her sister saying “Love you” and Addy Faith making a direct statement of dying to be with her sister again at last.

All in all, the Bittersweet saga was a 4 album length story about my life and experiences, portrayed through the character of Addy Faith, from beginning to end, starting with childhood-like behaviors and ending in death and peace, all while introducing the characters, Bitter, Sweet and Rev, and even introducing who Addy Faith is herself.
